 In Vienna, the primary language spoken is German, specifically Austrian German. However, the Viennese dialect (Wienerisch) has unique features that distinguish it from other German variants. 

In addition to the local dialect, Standard German (Hochdeutsch) is widely spoken and used in formal settings, education, media, and government. Standard German in Austria has few differences in vocabulary, pronunciation, and usage compared to Standard German in Germany, but these differences are generally minor.
